Arab. عينطاب ʿAinṭāb, türk. (seit 1921) Gaziantep, die Bezeichnung 'gazi' ('Kämpfer') erinnert an den lokalen Widerstand gegen die französische Besatzung nach dem ersten Weltkrieg (Ref.?). Ähnlich der von Haussknecht erwähnten Etymologie des Namens aus ʿain ('Quelle') und hebr. tob (arab. طيب ṭayyib, 'gut') findet sich in der Literatur der Bezug auf aram.
