Haussknecht beschreibt das Cammarano Theater, oder Théatre de Smyrne, das 1861 errichtet und in erster Linie von durchziehenden Ensembles bespielt wurde. Es war jedoch nicht das erste und einzige Theater in Izmir, bereits 1841 wurde das Euterpe Theater gebaut (Zandi-Sayek, Sibel. Izmir. The Rise of a Cosmopolitan Port, 1840-1880. Der arabische Name Aleppos soll sich – wie Haussknecht auch berichtet wurde ( HH-pg-000s) – von dem Verb 'ḥalaba' ('melken') ableiten.
