Pers. سوزمانی Sūzmānī. Der Ursprung des Namens sūzmānī ist nicht bekannt, ebenso wenig ist seine Verwendung definiert. Er bezeichnet überwiegend Tanzmädchen, die sich darüber hinaus prostituierten, in Kirmānšāh scheint er eine lokale Bezeichnung für „Zigeuner“ gewesen zu sein. Floor rekonstruiert zwei Gruppen von sūzmānī, eine Gruppe von Nomaden, die andere war ein kurdischer Stamm. Beiden Gruppen war ein nomadischer Lebensstil gemein, sowohl Männer als auch Frauen verdienten ihren Unterhalt zumeist als Musiker und Tänzer. Qirāns wurden zum ersten Mal unter Fatḥ ʿAlī Šāh geprägt, genauer gesagt ab 1826, als er anlässlich des dreißigsten Jubiläums seiner Herrschaft eine neue Gold- und eine neue Silbermünze prägen ließ. Auf der Silbermünze war die Inschrift „Fatḥ ʿAlī Šāh Ḫusrau Ṣāhib-qirān“ eingraviert, weshalb qirān zur offiziellen Bezeichnung dieser Währung wurde, die ab 1826 auch die Standardmünze war. Die Afscharen waren einer der ursprünglich 24 turkmenischen Oghusen-Stämme und kamen wahrscheinlich mit den Völkerwanderungen unter den Seldschuken in das Gebiet des Nahen und Mittleren Ostens. Der Überlieferung nach soll sich die erste Welle der Afscharen unter Tamerlan in Urmia und Umland angesiedelt haben, historische Belege finden sich jedoch erst aus der Zeit der Safawiden-Dynastie, als sie prominente Mitglieder der Qizilbāš- und Šāhsivin-Stammeskongregationen waren. Unter Nādir Šāh wurden etwa 3000 Familien von Urmia nach Süd-Aserbaidschan umgesiedelt, sie kamen unter ihm zu neuer Stärke. Unter den Kadscharen leisteten sie der Regierung weiterhin militärische Unterstützung, doch waren die Klans dermaßen fragmentiert geworden, dass sie ihre frühere Macht einbüßten. Die Afscharen waren einer der ursprünglich 24 turkmenischen Oghusen-Stämme und kamen wahrscheinlich mit den Völkerwanderungen unter den Seldschuken in das Gebiet des Nahen und Mittleren Ostens. Der Überlieferung nach soll sich die erste Welle der Afscharen unter Tamerlan in Urmia und Umland angesiedelt haben, historische Belege finden sich jedoch erst aus der Zeit der Safawiden-Dynastie, als sie prominente Mitglieder der Qizilbāš- und Šāhsivin-Stammeskongregationen waren. Unter Nādir Šāh wurden etwa 3000 Familien von Urmia nach Süd-Aserbaidschan umgesiedelt, sie kamen unter ihm zu neuer Stärke.
